SELF LOVE- Sometimes when you say it, it feels like a conceited, or narrow-minded practice. I always tended to fluff it off. But the more I train people (and myself), the more I realize, it's a REAL legit debilitator of awesomeness. Female AND males alike (DUDES, believe me, I see this in you just as often).
Because I'm confident, I never thought I lacked self love. However, recently I realized that my confidence is only in the things I excel in. Any one can love the good qualities, right? True self love is when you believe in yourself, in all things possible... that your weaknesses have the ability to become your strengths.
I always thought the practice of self love was only found thinking positive thoughts about yourself, and doing things you love (fitness, yoga, meditation, etc).
However, those things can only take you so far, before the doubt surfaces and smothers the love.
You can't overcome your debilities, until you love yourself enough to believe in your gut that it will be possible to overcome them.
For example, we have a next level dream and vision for a massive new concept, and an unshakeable belief that it would have incredible impact. I am confident in my ability to lead the team to manifest it, ONCE we get over the initial hurdle of funding. Because I have always chosen to view finance as my Achilles heel, I have let it push me into a breaking point. At that point, it didn't matter how confident I was in my attributes, my self love all came crashing down, because I know my greatest potential will never be met until I TRULY believe, DEEP DOWN IN MY GUT, that I am capable.
THE MORE YOU TAKE ACTION TOWARD YOUR WEAKNESSES, THE QUICKER YOU STRIP THE POWER THEY HAVE OVER YOU, AND YOUR ABILITY TO LOVE YOURSELF.
Action can be very small steps, repeatedly: Right now I can schedule a meeting, make a strategic phone call, listen to a podcast on business capital. When broken into small, undaunting, actionable steps, I realize that I am totally capable!
1. IDENTIFY YOUR SOURCE OF DOUBT IN YOURSELF
Is your lack of self love physical? Let's say you're weak or overweight.
I suck at cardio. I have a weak upper body. I don't have self control over what I eat in the evenings.
2. CREATE SMALL EASY ACTION STEPS to slowly break apart your doubt.
I will do 2 minute intervals of jumprope now, 3 tomorrow.
I will do 10 pushups now, 12 tomorrow.
Tonight I choose to eat _____, (and STICK to it).
3. CONSISTENTLY ACKNOWLEDGE SMALL WINS.
Your thoughts manifest your reality. Reinforce the good behavior, and you'll be more likely to match it.
