HOMEMADE TRAIL MIX

Submitted by Katie Dixon on January 30, 2010 – 12:55 pmOne Comment

Trail mix

Trail mix is a great snack to keep you going for the day. It is especially great for those of you who head to the gym prior to dinner. But, if you are like me, you could eat an entire bag in about 5 minutes. It is great for energy because it is packed with protein and “good fat;” however, it is high in calories, so it is best in moderation.

TIP: Separate handfuls into plastic sandwich bags and take one or two a day with you as you head out the door in the morning.

HOMEMADE TRAIL MIX
Roasted peanuts (or try unsalted for a healthier option)
Walnuts
Pecans
White Chocolate Chips
Dried Cherries

(Recommended: One ounce nuts, 1 pinch white chocolate chips, 1 pinch dried cherries per serving. Calories: About 250).
